Usage

Use the backdrop-contrast-{amount?} utilities alongside the backdrop-filter utility to control an element's backdrop contrast.

<div class="backdrop-filter backdrop-contrast-125 ...">
  <!-- ... -->
</div>

Responsive

To control an element's backdrop contrast at a specific breakpoint, add a {screen}: prefix to any existing backdrop contrast utility. For example, use md:backdrop-contrast-150 to apply the backdrop-contrast-150 utility at only medium screen sizes and above.

<div class="backdrop-filter backdrop-contrast-110 md:backdrop-contrast-150 ...">
  <!-- ... -->
</div>

Customizing

Variants

By default, only responsive variants are generated for backdrop contrast utilities.

You can control which variants are generated for the backdrop contrast utilities by modifying the backdropContrast property in the variants section of your tailwind.config.js file.

For example, this config will also generate hover and focus variants:

  // tailwind.config.js
  module.exports = {
    variants: {
      extend: {
        // ...
+       backdropContrast: ['hover', 'focus'],
      }
    }
  }

Disabling

If you don't plan to use the backdrop contrast utilities in your project, you can disable them entirely by setting the backdropContrast property to false in the corePlugins section of your config file:

  // tailwind.config.js
  module.exports = {
    corePlugins: {
      // ...
+     backdropContrast: false,
    }
  }
